Coaches Corner

Weather Cancellations

All weather related cancellations (house and travel) will be a joint determination between Field Operations and Baseball VP and AVP. Games will usually NOT be proactively cancelled if bad weather is in the forecast as we all know that can change. We will do everything we can to have the games played, provided we can do so safely.

Any cancellations will be made usually by 3 p.m. the day of (if not earlier because of field conditions) and we will notify all coaches via email as soon as possible.

Coaches should NOT reach out asking if games are cancelled as we will notify if they are. In other words, if they don't hear from us, the games are ON.

Also, coaches, even if in agreement by both teams, should not decide on their own to cancel the game because of weather. If the complex, or their specific field is open for play, and they decide not to play, that game will not be rescheduled.

The Thor Guard takes measurements thousands of times per minute, and will sound the all clear as soon as 10 minutes after the alarm,  provided that it is not reset by triggering another event (an event is any surface to ground discharge 12 miles or closer to the west or 3 miles or closer to the east - this does not necessarily need to be a strike, but can be a static discharge).

In the event that it does find an additional event, then the timer will continuously be reset until a full 10 minutes has passed from the latest event.

*No judgement calls should be made allowing play to resume if Thor triggered an event*
